If I were that guy the next time I went for a smoke I would take the stairs or quit smoking. I could not tell from the video but was there a phone in the elevator that he could have used?
The lighter is a good thought...usually those set off an alarm. And...am I the only one that thinks it is weird he didn't have a cell phone? I can't think of anyone I know that doesn't have a cell phone.
Using his lighter is a good idea! Those usual set off an alarm, but wasn't the building empty? Maybe the fire department still would have come...and am I the only one that is shocked he didn't have a cell phone?

I agree. I noticed the emergency phone as well. It's obvious that the elevator had power so I wonder why he didn't use it?
And if he was headed for a smoke break, could he have used his lighter to set off the fire alarm?
Or would he just have been stuck AND wet?
