I washed my husbands cell phone...OOOOPPPS!

Yesterday, I thought I was doing such wonderful things at my house. I made breakfast, cookies, and I even did laundry. Little did I know I washed my husbands Cell Phone. I feel really bad about the whole thing.

I have gotten some great suggestions about how to fix this:
I could tell him to empty his own pockets.
I could put his phone in a bowl of rice to dry it out.
I should have let it completely dry before turning it on.
Next time I wash it I need to make sure it is off.

What do you think I should do?

I really think that nothing helps once the water is able to seep in to the phone - so you have to be VERY quick to rescue the phone:

I have a funny story about that - One day my husband and his adult kids were sitting around the table talking and I was being busy... I threw my clothes into the washing machine and proceeded to cook my breakfast. Just about then, my husband's cell phone rang and my husband answered it... I saw a puzzled look on his face when he said "Its YOUR cell phone - how could that happen (since he was looking right at me cooking"!!!) Then - suddenly - a look of horror as he yelled "The washing machine"!!! I immediately caught his drift and ran in to the washer to see - RIGHT on top were my jeans with the cell phone half way out. It was just sitting there being hit ever so lightly by the outside arch of spray from the washer as it filled! I grabbed it up and dried it, but it had not gotten very wet... because... it had called for HELP to the first number listed in the address book - MY HUSBAND!!!! That IS a TRUE but wacky story!!! I think there just isn't any hope if you don't SAVE the phone quick before the water can seep into the electronics... otherwise dry it off with a rag and a blow dryer - however - I have the perfect story for you: One morning while my husband was sitting at the kitchen table talking to his adult kids I was just about to cook breakfast when I scooped up a pile of clothes and put them in the washer and turned on the washer. I then went back into the kitchen and started to make breakfast. Seconds later my husbands cell phone rang... My husband looked a little puzzeled as he looked at me and said that it was MY cell phone calling... Suddenly he had a horrified look on his face and he yelled "the washing machine!!!" I immediately got his drif and ran to the washing machine. Right on top were a pair of my jeans with my cell phone sticking out and getting just the slightest amount of spray from the outside arch of filling water!! I grabbed it out, dried it and set it face down on the counter and it was okay in the end... I know this is strange, but my cell phone did evidently have the ability to YELL FOR HELP as it called the first number on its list in the address book which just happened to be my husbands cell phone!!! And of course... it just happened that he was sitting right there and not off somewhere - talk about Guardian Angels... That IS a strange, but TRUE story. PeggyF
